Who I am as a sex educator is who I am as a person
I’m human.
You probably are too (no shade to any alien or animal readers out there). So when I tell you who I am and what I value is more complex than the list below, I assume you get it.
I bring a lot of myself to my work. I have my own perspectives, experiences, and intentions as a sex educator. If we’re going to work together, I want you to have some idea of where I’m coming from.
I’m a Black woman
I’m queer
I’m a partner to a dude. I like him a LOT.
I’m a parent to a teen. I like them a LOT. They like me too…even if they won’t admit it in public.
I have ADHD. Sometimes I’m okay with that. Sometimes I’m not.
I live with anxiety and depression. They’re…not my favourite.
I’m the first-generation child of immigrants
I was born and currently live on the occupied territory of the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee and Mississauga of the New Credit.
I have had and continue to have financial stability and privilege.
I am sex-positive. For more on what I mean by that check out this video I made. And this one too.
I strive to be pro-choice, pro-pleasure and queer-inclusive in my work.
